Mobile Alabama housing market is in pretty good shape
Researchers at the University of South Alabama say you may see more "for sale" signs, but that doesn't mean homes are not selling.
Officials told News Five Mobile is in pretty good economic shape and the average price of a home is $160,000.
The job market has also been doing well so people can afford to buy or sell their homes.
"We're not an island in Mobile. What's going on at the national level with the interest rates and the sub prime markets will affect us. The market has slowed down, prices may have dropped recently but the overall trend line is still up," said University of South Alabama Real Estate Studies Director Dr. Donald Epley.
Some real estate agents also told News Five that the market may be slow but that's normal during this time of year.
