Toledo Ohio housing market warms up
Realtors say there are more homes than ever on the market in the Toledo area. The good news is that home sales are up by about ten percent from this time last year in Wood County, but sales are down by about 15 percent in Lucas County.
Some of the hot housing markets right now include Monclova, Maumee, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Ottawa Hills and Temperance.
The areas that do the best often have a mix of new construction and existing homes. Realtors say things like new schools and downtown housing should help boost home sales in the city of Toledo.
President of Toledo board of realtors Ray Henderson says, "There are a lot of houses on the market so you have to make sure your house is the cream of the crop. You have to be aware of what your neighbors are doing with the houses they are selling."
Sulphur Springs realtor Michael Miller says, "It's going to be slow for the rest of 2007. We are not predicting a pick-up until 2008, but there are signs that people are coming back to the marketplace." According to Miller, the lowest point in the local housing market was last November. But as the weather warms up, sales go up.
