Newark Ohio has a large inventory of homes for sale but there are signs of stability

"We are really outperforming the state by quite a bit," said Hugh Price, president-elect of the Licking County Board of Realtors.

He said between January to August statewide sales of new and existing homes totaled 92,208 -- 5.8 percent less than the same period in 2006, which saw 97,866 homes sold. Licking County, on the other hand, sold 892 homes between January and August -- down 1.2 percent from the same period in 2006, when 903 homes were sold.

Toledo Ohio housing market in a slump

New numbers released by the Toledo Board of Realtors show demand is down, while the number of people looking to sell continues to climb. In the Toledo market the median price of all residential listings is down. The price last year was $122,000, this year is $106,000.

The number of homes on the market for more than 121 days has risen from 259 last year to 303 in 2007.
Ohio is also leading the country in foreclosed properties and that has an effect on the values of everybody else's property.

Toledo Ohio housing market warms up

Realtors say there are more homes than ever on the market in the Toledo area. The good news is that home sales are up by about ten percent from this time last year in Wood County, but sales are down by about 15 percent in Lucas County.

Some of the hot housing markets right now include Monclova, Maumee, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Ottawa Hills and Temperance.

The areas that do the best often have a mix of new construction and existing homes. Realtors say things like new schools and downtown housing should help boost home sales in the city of Toledo.
