Laramie Wyoming housing permits up 56% from last year

The city has issued 75 single-family home permits so far this year, compared to 48 at this time last year. About 40 to 50 lots have recently been approved for single-family construction. A number of projects are still in the pipeline, including an 11-lot affordable housing development by Habitat for Humanity, off of Colorado Avenue.

Median-priced homes in Jackson Hole Wyoming tops $1-million

As of July 1, the median home-sale price in Jackson Hole was over $1.1 million, Viehman said. At this time last year, it was $920,000. And at the same time in 2003, the median sales price was $542,500, meaning the figure has more than doubled in four years.

David Viehman, owner of Jackson Hole Real Estate and Appraisal, recently released a quarterly market report stating that free-market housing has risen so high that locals can’t afford Jackson Hole anymore.

Gillette Wyoming housing prices on the rise

The energy boom has helped Wyoming buck national trends, with prices on the rise and median-income houses hard to find.

Sherry McGrath, broker/owner of ERA Boardwalk Real Estate, has seen the market in Gillette explode with the influx of workers and higher wages.

“The wages have a big impact on our market,” she said. “People’s wages are higher, so there’s a value to that, too.”
